Support During the Unknown

When I became a doula, I thought about all of the ways that I wanted to support clients through things they perhaps never experienced before. From struggling with infertility to preparing for parenthood to the first weeks and months with a newborn (& a new mother), I felt like my heart had led me to be a steady state of calm for others. Combining my experiences with knowledge and passions, I’d realized I’d trained my whole life for a career I didn’t even know existed.

Enter a global pandemic.

Everything changed.

My ability to meet with clients, to work in their homes, to be a literal shoulder to cry on - it morphed. It transformed into phone calls and FaceTime and Zoom sessions and emails and online webinars. It made me focus on what I was sharing here, on this page and my social media channels, in lieu of what I could offer in person.

The COVID-19 crisis is overwhelming for a million different reasons, but in my opinion, it’s mostly because everything is unknown. How to stay safe has come with conflicting reports. How long to isolate has come with ever updating and changing rules. What I want to do, more than anything in this time, is ask you all, how can I support you. What do you need, right now? What are you feeling? What are you struggling with? How can I assist you, encourage you, and inspire you from here? Any answer is welcomed in this space.

In a time where everyone is seeking connection, reassurance and support, moms who were trying to get pregnant, going through fertility treatments, who are pregnant and preparing for a baby’s arrival, or who have recently given birth are extremely impacted by these daily changes. I want to help. I am here to help. Please, reach out.

Sending all of my love, and my earnest wishes for your replies,

Amanda
