Motherhood is one thousand things at once. THIS 🙌🏼 during Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, I want to stress over and over again that whatever you feel in your journey to and through parenthood - it’s valid. I see you. I hear you. You’re not alone 🌺

My journey to motherhood looked so different than I planned. When I was unable to get pregnant on my own, fertility testing and treatments took over my every thought, my every day, my whole life. I was so consumed with wanting to have a baby, and that absolutely impacted my mental health. Being pregnant with an IVF success story was both beautiful and challenging - I was constantly worried that something was going to happen to my miracle baby.

Maternal Mental Health, in my eyes, covers the mental health impact of wanting to be a parent, waiting to be a parent, becoming a parent, and parenthood at large. Let’s open the conversations. Let’s be honest with each other about the things that feel hard or emotional or scary. Together we will face the unknowns.

I’m #makingovermotherhood with @thebluedotprj - will you join me? If you faced any prenatal or postpartum mental health challenges and would be interested in writing a guest post, please comment below!

& Finally, if you find yourself struggling with Perinatal Mood and/or Anxiety Disorders - please reach out to me, and find additional (and immediate) resources at Postpartum Support International.
